About the RiteCare Scottish Rite Childhood Language Program
In the early 1950s in Colorado, the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of the Southern Jurisdiction of the United States initiated a program to help children with speech and language disorders. The results obtained from this program led to the establishment of RiteCare Scottish Rite Childhood Language Program (SRCLP) .
Today, there are over 170 SRCLP clinics, centers, and special programs operating or planned for children and therapists located throughout the United States. Each facility is staffed by speech-language pathologists or other trained personnel. Through the support of Scottish Rite members, these clinics, centers, and programs continue to increase.
Tens of thousands of youngsters across the United States have been helped significantly. With the good work of dedicated clinicians and parents, the Scottish Rite has achieved successes that could only be imagined a few years back. Children who might have remained educationally behind for a lifetime can now talk, read, and lead productive lives.
**We currently are updating our online directory of clinics, if you need assistance locating a facility in the meantime, please contact us at council@scottishrite.org or call 202–232–3579 (M–Th., 7 am to 5 pm ET).**
Program Eligibility
As a rule, the SRCLP Clinics accept preschool children who have difficulty speaking or understanding the spoken word or school-age children who have difficulty learning to read. Some centers also offer literacy training for adults.
Inquiries on age groups and program offerings in specific areas should be addressed to the director of the local Scottish Rite facility. Equally important, all services are available regardless of race, creed, or the family's inability to pay.
While all children in need are eligible for available SRCLP treatment, please consult with your local facility for specific financial information.
Rite Care is the national charity of Scottish Rite, Southern Jurisdiction providing speech and language therapy to children in need who are likely to be denied treatment without help. Rite Care assistance is provided and funded through the local valleys of Scottish Rite. Rite Care Billings was established in 1995. The need was so great that the public was asked to assist. It has grown to become a charitable non-profit 501(c)(3) Montana corporation. The children it assists has grown to 68+ and is expected to keep on growing. Rite Care Billings is especially dedicated to identifying and assisting pre-school children to prepare them to be successful when they enter school. Speech therapy by its nature is sometimes slow and Rite Care Billings often assists children in need through several years of treatment. Rite Care Billings has contracts with most of the private children's speech and language clinics in the Billings area. The children it accepts are funded for treatment by the clinic selected for as much of the cost per session as their family cannot pay on a sustainable basis.
Everyone can join in supporting Rite Care Billings. Donations can be delivered or mailed to our address below, or made on this site by checking the "Make a Donation" icon at the top of this page. Another option is to join the 365 Club to the Billings Scottish Rite office as may be convenient to the donor. The 365 club was created for donor convenience and to establish as flow of funding for the charity. To participate the donor selects the amount to be donated daily. That's the 365 feature. Then the donor selects the frequency that payment will be made. Monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually each calendar year. Please consider this with your charitable giving.
